YOU HAVE YOUR SAY

EVERY week Money Mail receives hundreds of your letters and emails about our stories. Here are some about the new £7.99-a-month Tesco Clubcard Plus scheme.

THIS feels like a kick in the teeth to people who get their shopping delivered. Some do it because they’re not able to make it to the shops or because they simply don’t want to leave their homes. This will make them feel less valued.

I. F., Lisburn, Northern Ireland.

AS A single person, these kind of schemes really frustrate me. When you are shopping for one, you rarely buy enough for promotions to apply. It’s extremely difficult to spend £60 on a weekly shop to get a fuel discount.

W. B., Berkhamsted.

I TRY to avoid doing a big shop nowadays — I just shop as and when I need to, which stops me wasting food. It feels like Tesco is now penalising its customers for doing this, so I will probably take my business elsewhere.

E.M., Stoke-on-Trent.

THERE was nothing wrong with the original loyalty scheme, but retailers are always changing them to favour the supermarkets rather than the customers. If stores show shoppers no loyalty, why should we be loyal to them?

S.T., London.

TESCO needs to make a profit for its shareholders. Supermarkets need to make money from these schemes, so they will never introduce one where only customers benefit. Shoppers would do better to go to the cheapest supermarkets to save money.

G. F., Durham.

THIS scheme seems to be aimed at wealthy shoppers, rather than benefits claimants or older customers living off pensions. There is no way some people will be able to afford spending enough to make this card viable.

D. H., Rojales, Spain.

I ONLY have two loyalty cards, and one of them is a Tesco Clubcard. I save my points throughout the year and I can get up to £60 off my main Christmas shop in December. It’s a welcome discount to have at an expensive time of year.

D. A., Cheshire.
