STEPHEN FRY (pictured) is plagued by his inability to remember faces. All sorts of thing stick in his head, but he just can’t seem to fix people’s features in his memory. In THE CURIOUS CASES OF RUTHERFORD & FRY (RADIO 4, 9.30AM, 8.45PM), he asks Adam Rutherford and Hannah Fry to look into his ‘face blindness’, also known as prosopagnosia, to investigate the pathology of the condition and suggest any ways of relieving it.

PATRICK KIELTY (RADIO 2, 2PM) settles into a studio on Music Row in Nashville ahead of tomorrow’s Country Music Association Awards. He will be talking to some of Nashville’s stars about their favourite venues, and playing tracks from this year’s nominees. Singersongwriters Ingrid Andress and Joshua Hedley will

be on the show for some live country music.

MEN had a habit of falling in love with Alma Schindler. She was a composer, writer and socialite — and a great beauty. Her marriage to Gustav Mahler was to end in tears when the death of one of their children, as well as Mahler’s own poor health, took a toll on the couple’s strained relationship. In the drama MAHLER’S MUSE (RADIO 4, 2.15PM), we hear how the discovery of Alma’s affair with the architect Walter Gropius was a terrible blow to Mahler — and how that blow was reflected in his music.
