Surfer dies after rescue from waves
A SURFER died yesterday after getting into difficulty off a beach on the Isle of Lewis.
He was pulled from the sea at Barvas, a popular surfing spot on the island’s west coast, and emergency services were alerted.
Police said the man was flown to Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway, where he was pronounced dead.
A police spokesman said: ‘Inquiries are ongoing into the circumstances and the procurator fiscal has been informed.’
They said no further details would be released until next of kin had been contacted.
