Happy Days are here again
Fonz reunited with sitcom pals – 35 years on
THE setting might not have been Al’s Diner. But the old magic was still plain to see as the stars of Happy Days got back together 35 years after the final episode was broadcast.
Five of the original cast were at a gala to honour the show’s late creator Garry Marshall in Los Angeles. The event turned into a trip down memory lane for the five, who reminisced about their favourite moments with their mentor, who died in 2016 after a stroke.
Henry Winkler, 74 – who played The Fonz – joked about auditioning for the director, saying: ‘They wanted a tall Italian and they got a short Jew.’
He was joined by Ron Howard, who played Richie Cunningham, Anson Williams, Don Most and Marion Ross.
The US sitcom, set in 1950s and 1960s Milwaukee, was shown from 1974 to 1984 and became a huge hit here on ITV.
