He’s a sucker for a Hoover! Sam owns 100 dust busters (but hates cleaning)
FOR some people, it may be a hobby that – to use an Americanism – sucks.
But for Sam Watson, collecting vacuum cleaners is the ideal pick-me-up.
He now has a 100-strong collection after getting his first one from the local tip as a tenyear-old. But his enthusiasm does not extend as far as actually using them, with Mr Watson admitting that he hates cleaning. The software tester, from Thame, Oxfordshire, loved watching his mother clean the carpets when he was a child and begged her for a machine of his own.
His house is now crammed with cleaners, with some more than 50 years old. Mr Watson, 32, keeps a spreadsheet documenting each device and creates videos to help people understand their machines. He said: ‘I got my first vacuum when I was a kid – it was a Hoover Junior. I have spent about £500 on them over the years.’
He added: ‘I don’t really like cleaning and I only vacuum my own house when it needs it.’
