man ever to escape Alcatraz, he’s part of the team tasked with liberating the island prison from a hostile takeover by terrorists. It’s directed by Michael Bay, and is more fun than his later Transformers movies.

Look Back In Anger, 12.20am, BBC2

TONY RICHARDSON’S adaptation of John Osborne’s incendiary 1956 play stars Richard Burton as Jimmy Porter, the bitter man who is too lazy and full of self-loathing to better himself. Mary Ure plays his wife, with whom Jimmy shares a tatty flat along with friend and business partner Cliff (Gary Raymond).
