Farmer ‘shot dog on lead’
A FARMER and prominent businessman is facing trial for allegedly killing a dog with a shotgun, while the animal was still on its lead.
Kenneth Bone, 61, is said to have held the weapon in one hand while he shot a husky dog in front of Sean Campbell, who had the animal tethered.
Prosecutors state that Bone ‘exposed Mr Campbell to injury’ in the incident, which is said to have happened near the accused’s home on the Isle of Arran.
He denies culpable and reckless conduct and placing his victim ‘in a state of fear, alarm and distress’ in April.
Bone, of Glenkiln Farm, Lamlash, was freed on bail at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court and is due to stand trial next year.
He is described at Companies House as a director of Arran Development Trust, The Arran Trust, and Visit Arran Ltd.
His online profile describes him as honorary vice president of Arran Farmers Society, director of Arran Economic Group, co-owner of a pub and owner of a hydroelectric scheme.
