Finsbury Growth and Income

Scottish Daily Mail - - City & Finance -

WHAT IS IT?

THE Finsbury Growth and Income Trust is run by renowned fund manager Nick Train, and focuses on UK-listed companies. It aims to grow investors’ capital and income payments.

WHAT DOES IT INVEST IN?

Finsbury invests in a small selection of UK-listed firms – it usually only holds up to 30 investments, and a maximum of 20pc of the fund can be ploughed into companies listed on foreign stock exchanges. Some larger holdings include Smirnoff-owner Diageo, fashion house Burberry and the London Stock Exchange itself.

WHAT DO THE EXPERTS LIKE?

Laura Suter, personal finance analyst at AJ Bell, says: ‘Over the past 10 years it has returned 382pc, compared to the FTSE All Share’s 114pc.’

ANY DOWNSIDES?

The fund’s small portfolio can be a downside, as investment returns would be affected if one company underperforms, Suter adds. And the yield is not very large compared to some peers.
