‘Racist sent me banana on pub app’

Scottish Daily Mail - - News -

A WETHERSPOON customer claims he was the victim of racism after a stranger used the pub’s food-ordering app to send a banana to his table.

Mark D’Arcy-Smith, 24, was drinking at The Richmal Crompton in Bromley, south-east London, when a barman delivered the piece of fruit.

Mr D’Arcy Smith (pictured) left shortly after, saying staff did not treat it seriously enough. He has since contacted the police. ‘It was clearly sent by someone trying to be racist,’ he said.

A spokesman for the Wetherspoon chain, which allows punters to order drinks and food to their table via a phone app, said: ‘We apologise to the customer. This is now a police matter.’
