Overhaul the NHS

Scottish Daily Mail - - Freeview Primetime Planner -

OUR squeamish politicians will soon have to bite the bullet and accept that the NHS is no longer fit for purpose. They must stop this nonsense that it is sacrosanct and must not be modernised. It does not matter who is in power or how much money is pumped in, the NHS in its present form will not improve.

It needs to be reconstructed root and branch. being in fact a nationalised organisation it has all the nationalisation faults, being bureaucratically top heavy and inefficiently run. A committee ought to be formed consisting of the bosses who run our large supermarkets so efficiently.

It should be given carte blanche to bring forward plans to radically reform the NHS to make it fit for the 21st century.

o.R. STEWART, Glasgow.
