Farage urged to drop candidate

Scottish Daily Mail - - The Brexmas Election -

NIGEL Farage should stand aside his Brexit Party candidate in a key Edinburgh constituency to help the Tories defeat the SNP’s Joanna Cherry, one of his former MEPs has claimed.

David Coburn, who represented the Brexit Party and previously Ukip in the European Parliament after being elected in 2014, urged his former party to stand aside in Edinburgh South West.

The seat, held by Miss Cherry since 2015, is being targeted by the Conservatives, who are looking to overturn an SNP majority of only 1,097.

The Brexit Party has selected David Ballantine to fight for the seat.

Mr Coburn said: ‘Joanna Cherry organised the appeals to the Scottish courts and the so-called Supreme Court and is a major enemy of Brexit.’
