Tragedy of mother, 26, who died af ter giving birth

TRIBUTES have been paid to a young mother who died while giving birth to her baby boy.

Stacy Louise Joyce, from Drumchapel in Glasgow, passed away on Saturday after delivering her healthy eightpound son.

Her father, John Joyce, said the family had been left devastated at losing the 26-year-old so suddenly.

Miss Joyce, a beauty salon worker, had shared beaming social media pregnancy posts. It is unclear whether she died in hospital or elsewhere.

Mr Joyce announced the tragic news on Sunday morning in an emotional Facebook post.

He said: ‘How can this world be so cruel with such sad devastatin­g news.

‘Our daughter, sister, granddaugh­ter, niece, cousin, mummy,

Stacy Louise Joyce was sadly taken from us while giving birth to a perfect wee, over eight pounds, healthy baby boy.’

He added: ‘We promise you one thing, Stacy, that wee stunner will be looked after like you’ll never know – I promise you that with every breath I’ll ever take. You’re now with your grandas, now fly high my princess. Words will never describe how we’re all feeling.’

In a later post, Mr Joyce shared images of his daughter and the baby, adding: ‘How can someone so special give me this perfect grandson and leave us with so much devastatio­n Stacy? You’ll never believe how much I miss you already and love this wee guy so much things will never be the same. Please give your mum, son, brother and sister the strength to get through this nightmare.’

Yesterday, he shared another image of the infant, writing: ‘Wee handsome baby’s face lookin far better today. So much love for this wee dude xxx’

Miss Joyce’s employers, Blush Beauty and Wellness Salon paid tribute, saying: ‘It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that this beautiful, smiley girl was taken to be with the angels last night as she gave birth to her perfect little baby boy.

‘We are all in a state of shock and sadness today and our thoughts, prayers and love are with her family, friends and her son.’

In September, Miss Joyce had shared an photograph of herself wearing a sash with ‘Mummy to be’ written across it.

Hundreds of friends paid tribute on social media. Nicolle Fullerton said: ‘I’m absolutely heart broken for you Stacy.’

Nadine Boyd said: ‘What a beautiful baby, she will always be there by his side.’

An NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde spokesman said they had no informatio­n to provide on the tragedy.
