Cake Box’s top-tier sales

CAKE Box sales soared 27pc to £1.7m as the bak­ery chain be­gan sell­ing ‘red vel­vet cakes’.

Rev­enues at the com­pany, which spe­cialises in mak­ing egg-free fresh cream cakes, rose 6pc to £8.8m and it had 122 fran­chise stores open by Septem­ber 30. Since then it has opened five more branches – in­clud­ing its first in Wales.

Cake Box was founded in east Lon­don in 2008 by two cousins after one of their daugh­ters asked if she could have an egg-free cake. Shares in the group, which listed on AIM last June, surged 10.4pc, or 14.5p, to 153.5p.
