KEEN baker Anna Dillon has truly unleashed her creativity – and come up with a life-size, all-action model of her beagle puppy Poppy in cake.

Mrs Dillon, 51, was inspired to portray Poppy, eight months, with her ears flying as she leapt through the air. The cake took four days to make – three to fashion the structure with wire and another to decorate it. Mother-of-one Mrs Dillon, who uses Victoria sponge or Madeira cake for her creations, competes in shows around the UK. The care worker, who is married to Kenny, 50, converted her garage in Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, into a studio for baking. She said: ‘Poppy didn’t take me that long. When I get to the finer details I race through. It’s about 1ft 6ins tall, it worked fantastically.’

Mrs Dillon has previously created caricatures of stars including Sylvester Stallone and Freddie Mercury.
