Wild beaver found shot and skinned
A WILD beaver was discovered shot dead and skinned on a Scots beach.
The body of the animal, one of only around 400 left in the east of Scotland, washed ashore at Broughty Ferry, Dundee.
A dog walker who spotted the animal, said: ‘You could visibly see the bullet hole in the poor thing. It was quite shocking to see.’
Beavers became a protected species in May. It is illegal to kill them or destroy their dams.
A spokesman for Scottish Natural Heritage said: ‘Anyone suspecting an offence has been committed should contact Police Scotland.’
