STERLING’S £100m REBOOT AS NIKE BREAK BANK TO KEEP CITY STRIKER
NIKE have made Raheem Sterling a record-breaking offer to retain the Manchester City and England striker as one of their global ambassadors. Sterling’s existing deal with the American sportswear giant expires next year, but
Sportsmail understands discussions over extending the contract are advanced. The deal on the table is for three years, to 2023, and would be one of the most lucrative deals of all-time with a footballer. Sterling is hot property in the sportswear market, with Puma and Air Jordan pitching to sign him. Air Jordan, a subsidiary of Nike with a basketball focus, have only been in football for a year, but they are reported to have offered the England striker close to £100million. The Puma offer is described as ‘game-changing’. Sterling is expected to make a decision early next year, having just opened talks with City on a new playing contract despite having signed his latest £300,000-a-week deal little more than 12 months ago.
