Sit, I want a family pawtrait!

PUT 17 pets in one room and you’d expect fur to fly.

But Kathy Smith not only managed to keep her animals calm, she also got them to line up long enough for a perfect portrait.

The first half of the job was easy – her eight dogs readily obeyed her instruction to sit, especially when given treats. Persuading all nine cats to stay put was a harder task.

Miss Smith, 30, learned the full meaning of the expression ‘as difficult as herding cats’ as she had to dash between the sofa and her camera several times to retrieve errant felines before they remained still for long enough. Luckily, they all looked at the camera.

‘I was so thrilled when I realised I’d captured this shot – it’s like a little family photo,’ said Miss Smith, a shop assistant from Corwen, North Wales who takes in rescue animals. She also has four budgies, several fish and a baby hedgehog.
