Don’t hit small firms

Scottish Daily Mail - - Freeview Primetime Planner -

THREE decades ago my dad invested his hard-earned cash into a failing business with a goal to have something sustainable for his family of seven sons.

I am pleased to say that the third generation of the family is now working in the company making spare parts for machine operators.

For the first few years the company lost money, tested our faith and patience, but through determination and grit, belt-tightening and lean living we made it a success.

The firm has paid several million into the Treasury in the form of company tax and national Insurance contributions and the staff are all paid well above the minimum wage.

I fear a government under Jeremy Corbyn carries the risk of wrecking the wealth that small and medium companies have been nurturing. IVAN KNAPPETT, Slinfold, W. Sussex.
