HOLT BLAMES PLAYER MISTAKES FOR LIVVY LOSS
LIVINGSTON boss Gary Holt insists individual errors cost his side at least a point at Pittodrie. The Lions boss was left vexed by his side’s defending at goals from Connor McLennan and substitute Bruce Anderson before Lyndon Dykes’ late consolation. ‘Disappointed is one word for it. Frustration is another,’ Holt sighed. ‘Individual mistakes have cost us today and it was a sore one to take. ‘I have told the boys we have to take responsibility for the ugly side of the game. ‘If you look at the Aberdeen backline, Lyndon Dykes never got a free header for us all afternoon because they defended well. Because of that, we had to score a world-class goal. ‘But my keeper has not had a save to make in the game except picking the ball out of the back of the net twice — and that’s unacceptable.’ Holt has challenged his team to be bolder on Sunday when they host a Hibs side boosted by beating Hearts 2-0 in the Edinburgh derby. ‘It’s a home game and it’s almost a local derby,’ he said. ‘It will be tough but I want my team to be a bit braver and try to make things happen. ‘It’s not like I’m asking them to do Cruyff turns in the box. If it doesn’t come off, I don’t care but I do want them to try and make things happen. ‘In saying that, I don’t think we played badly against Aberdeen. ‘We played well against a good Aberdeen side who have been in the top three — and top two — teams in Scotland in recent years. ‘I felt we dominated the game and had a lot of possession. We just have to be braver and make things happen in our next match.’
