SET ON SISSAKO

PSG defender added to Lennon’s list of targets

- By STEPHEN McGOWAN

CELTIC have placed Paris Saint-Germain central defender Moussa Sissako on a list of potential January signings.

Neil Lennon is gearing up for a critical month in the transfer market, with plans forged to sign up to four new players.

A Mali Under-23 international, 19-year-old Sissako has been on the radar for some time after coming up against Celtic in the UEFA Youth League in 2017.

The Scottish champions have previously signed Odsonne Edouard and Timothy Weah from their French counterparts.

Despite being under contract until 2021, Sissako plays no part in the first-team plans of PSG boss Thomas Tuchel and is free to leave this month in return for a sizeable sell-on agreement.

There is competing interest from England after he was

linked with Newcastle and Brighton in the summer, and the teenager’s final decision will be heavily influenced by his prospects of first-team football. Celtic are already in negotiations with Brazilian second-tier club Cruzeiro over a move for 23-year-old Fabricio Bruno. The deal is complex, however, as the central defender is pursuing legal action to seek the immediate termination of his contract over unpaid wages, while the troubled South American club are holding out for a fee in the region of £5million for a 70-percent stake in the player. Licking their wounds after last Sunday’s Old Firm defeat at Parkhead, Celtic’s management and players will gather in Dubai this weekend for a week of winter training. With Lennon in the market for one, possibly two, strikers, talks are continuing with Slovakian club Slovan Bratislava over Slovenian international Andraz Sporar, a move which was first revealed by

Sportsmail.

The Celtic manager is also considering a move for a midfielder, despite the news Ryan Christie could be back in action at the start of February after undergoing groin surgery. Christie is also facing a likely two-match suspension for violent conduct after a clash with Alfredo Morelos in the defeat to Rangers. Celtic have expressed ‘astonishment’ at the charge and have vowed to contest it. Meanwhile, Celtic physiotherapist Tim Williamson is set to stay put in Glasgow after he had a change of heart over a move to Manchester United.
