Pressure is when you’re at bottom

SAYS BRIAN RICE

- By MARK WILSON

BRIAN RICE believes the real pressure is on teams fighting relegation as the Hamilton head coach prepares to face a rangers team reeling from their Scottish Cup exit. Steven Gerrard said he needed time to think after Saturday’s defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle left him facing a second trophyless season. rice, however, rejected the idea that rangers might face the greater burden when Accies visit Ibrox tomorrow evening. ‘It must be great to be under pressure when you are second in the league and in the last 16 of the europa League,’ said rice, whose team are two points above bottom club Hearts. ‘It must be great pressure to be under. Pressure is where

we are. That’s pressure.’ rice insists no one at Hamilton believes the task in Govan will be any less onerous because of what happened at the weekend. ‘Would people have asked me if it was a good time to play rangers after the Braga game last week?’ he added. ‘everyone was raving about how well they played and it was a fantastic performance and rightly so. ‘Saturday shows how quickly it changes in football. ‘Going to Ibrox is a massive test at any time and the Hearts result doesn’t change that. If you play for the old Firm you have to perform in every game and the demand is there to win. ‘When you have a poor result you look for a reaction. ‘Going out the Cup will be a massive blow for everyone connected with rangers but I haven’t seen anything to say they have lost the league. They will be fighting to get back into the race. ‘We are Hamilton going to Ibrox. It is still David v Goliath. We have ten games left and we are going there trying to get some points.’
