The young Reds hoping for kick-off

-

IT’S not just adult fans like me who are fed up that all sport has been cancelled. I have been a supporter of liverpool football club since 1978 and my sons Elijah, seven, and Isaac, five, are fans, too. Though they are young, they are aware of why the season has been abandoned. I try to shield them from most of the news, but it’s difficult when they ask so many questions. Since he was a year old, Isaac has answered ‘Klopp’ when asked to name liverpool’s manager or if he is shown a picture of him. After they have done their school work, the boys put on their liverpool strips and ask me to play a video of a classic match. when we watched the 1974 FA Cup final between liverpool and newcastle, they asked why the players’ shirts were ‘empty’ — free of advertising — and why the crowd wore ‘silly’ clothes!
