‘Remarkable’ Wright hailed on Saints exit

DAVE MACKAY last night hailed Tommy Wright’s ‘remarkable’ impact at St Johnstone following the Northern Irishman’s decision to step down after almost seven years as manager. Assistant to Steve Lomas for two years prior to taking on the role in 2013, the 56-year-old guided the Perth club to Scottish Cup glory in his first season in charge as well as turning the Perth club into top-six and European regulars. Widely regarded as the finest manager in St Johnstone’s history, Wright will be high in the running for the current Northern Ireland vacancy and has also been touted as a possible saviour for troubled Hearts.
