HITLER ‘DID NOT DIE A HERO’, SAYS EISENHOWER
HITlER did not ‘die a hero’, according to General Eisenhower, who points out that Admiral Doenitz’s account of the Fuhrer’s death does not agree with facts already disclosed by Himmler.
General Eisenhower discloses new information: ‘A meeting took place at lubeck at 1am on April 24 between Count Folke Bernadotte of the International Red Cross, and Heinrich Himmler. Himmler admitted that Germany was finished.
‘Himmler told Count Bernadotte that Hitler was so ill he might be already dead. At any rate, he could not be expected to live more than two days longer.
‘General Schellenburg, who was also present, added that Hitler was suffering from a brain haemorrhage.
‘Doenitz’s statement, therefore, that Hitler met a hero’s death at his post is in contradiction with the facts given by Himmler and Schellenburg.’
