MOST people would probably think twice if they spotted a pair of dodgy characters tampering with their car.

But the wife of BBC presenter Nicky Campbell did not hesitate and confronted two ‘brazen’ men trying to steal her catalytic converter.

The BBC 5 Live host posted CCTV footage of the moment when the pair attempted the theft in broad daylight outside the couple’s London home.

The video, filmed on a security camera, shows the would-be thieves trying to jackup the car as Tina Campbell walks outside and asks: ‘What the bloody hell are you doing?’ After a few seconds they walk to their car before getting in and driving off, with Mrs Campbell shouting: ‘Bye.’

Campbell, 59, originally from Edinburgh, tweeted the CCTV clip with the message: ‘This afternoon. Two guys attempt to steal catalytic converter from our car. Tina spots them. Confronts them. They leave. Brazen.’ He said he was ‘oblivious’ to the incident, but added he would have ‘lost it’ had he been downstairs.

The police were called and Mr Campbell gave a statement, although he failed to get the registration of the men’s car. His wife was hailed a ‘hero’ by social media users for rumbling the would-be thieves.

Mrs Campbell, the former head of Virgin Radio News, has four daughters with Nicky, one of whom he was accused of ‘publicly shaming’ last year.

The presenter tweeted a picture of his then 18-year-old daughter Breagha’s untidy bedroom. ‘This is completely unacceptable,’ he tweeted. ‘You are nearly 19 years old and I am bloody sick of it. I don’t care that you were going to tidy it up. It just really p ***** me off.’
