‘Traumatised’ staff win £42m from Facebook
FACEBOOK has agreed to pay £42million to content moderators who suffered mental trauma from the graphic images they had to review.
The California court settlement is with more than 10,000 staff who worked for firms contracted by Facebook.
The lawsuit filed in 2018 claimed they were subject to psychological trauma from exposure to graphic content such as beheadings and rape.
Those diagnosed with conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder will get compensation up to £40,000.
Facebook also agreed to offer counselling to staff.
