Counting the cost
I FEAR that the Autumn Budget will have some nasty news of tax increases in 2021 to pay for the massive debt we have incurred with the furlough scheme to cushion the effects of the coronavirus.
Pensioners on fixed income will be the worst hit, with vAT. and personal tax changes bringing eyewatering increases that will reduce personal spending considerably.
It is also inevitable that National Insurance contributions will go up to cover the increased cost of the NhS. DENNIS FORBES GRATTAN,
