I hAvE been following with interest the comments made recently regarding the various problems with cyclists versus pedestrians (Letters) — with which I must admit I totally agree.
Seventy-six years ago I was message boy for a local butcher (Dan Clark, Dunfermline) and my route for deliveries before school and after school included the tea rooms and restaurant in Pittencrieff Park.
The first time I delivered on a message bike I was stopped by the park ranger who informed me I was not allowed to cycle in the park and was made to walk every time I entered.
how about dismounting when passing a crowd of people, especially the oldies and youngsters? It galls me when I see cyclists racing through the park on bikes nowadays.
