Jack: SNP stay at home advice ‘confusing’

-

SCOTLAND’s ‘stay at home’ advice is confusing as people are now allowed out for unlimited exercise, the Scottish Secretary has claimed.

Alister Jack yesterday hit back at suggestions the UK Government’s ‘stay alert’ branding was confusing, insisting Nicola Sturgeon’s failure to update her message had also sparked concerns. Speaking to MPs on Westminster’s Scottish Affairs Committee, Mr

Jack revealed he would be in the Commons next week – but urged other Scottish MPs not to travel to London.

Despite concerns that a four-nation approach to tackling Covid-19 has fallen apart, Mr Jack said the governments were ‘working well’ together.

He added: ‘We are pooling our resources, we are pooling our expertise for the devolved nations to move at a different pace if they need to, and that can be nationally, regionally or locally.’

Mr Jack said there would be further spikes in the virus as lockdown is eased and this could be witnessed in different parts at different times.

The Dumfries and Galloway MP said: ‘The fact a change was coming was made crystal clear’ but he admitted Miss Sturgeon had not been told what the new message would be.
