AS SMART AS MOZART

Reading and maths whiz in Mensa at 4

- Daily Mail Reporter

HE is a boy genius who has become a member of Mensa aged just four – prompting comparisons to that other great child prodigy, Mozart.

Izaak Miller, who can read as well as a child of seven and has the maths skills of the average six-year-old, has an IQ of 154.

He taught himself to read by the age of two and knows not only the Roman alphabet, but also the Greek and Arabic versions too.

Izaak passed the children’s admission test for the high IQ society aged three and has now received his acceptance letter.

His mother Michelle Nelson, 32, said ‘he just loves language’ and is always asking for books. The teacher from Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, said Izaak had largely taught himself and she hadn’t had a huge input into his learning.

‘I was shocked that one day he could just read,’ she said. ‘It was more from being outside with him and reading signs on the bus and the underground, names of stations and instructions on posters. People were looking at him and asking whether he was at school because they couldn’t believe a child that young could read.’

Izaak’s IQ puts him on a par with Mozart, whose IQ was estimated at around 150 to 155.

The Austrian composer was famous for mastering the violin and keyboard at age four and starting to compose a year later. Izaak is not the youngest member of British Mensa, however. That honour belongs to three-year-old Muhammad Haryz Nadzim from County Durham, who joined in January with an IQ score of 142.
