Not even cupboard space for teachers
SCHOOLS are using ‘every bit of space’ to accommodate social distancing – from cupboards to foyers.
The Scottish Secondary Teachers’ Association has warned chaos is mounting ahead of the new term.
General secretary Seamus Searson said that in one case, a teacher had been told he had to teach online from home as there was no space for him in school.
He said: ‘I asked him if there was a cupboard he could work in. He said every bit of space is being used.’
Scottish Tory education spokesman Jamie Greene said the SNP had ‘abandoned schools and families’.
The Scottish Government said: ‘We expect councils to use innovative ways to maximise the amount of time pupils spend in classrooms. Where necessary, the school estate will be expanded by using libraries, community halls, leisure centres [or] conference venues.’
