approval of dexamethasone, a £5 steroid, for use in treating seriously ill Covid-19 patients is a huge and significant breakthrough. While it is natural that we focus most of our ire and, at times, our praise on the politicians handling this crisis, for my money it is the scientists, working quietly and tirelessly behind the scenes in search of treatments and a vaccine who are emerging as the real heroes.
