PRESIDENT macron arrived to bestow his country’s highest honour, the Legion d’Honneur, on London. He was marking the 80th anniversary of Charles De Gaulle’s famous liberation speech, made from a BBC studio in the capital during the war, now commemorated as the birth of Free

France. As macron said: ‘It was here that the UK allowed the Free French to plant their flag.’

Is this the same French President who tried to stymie Britain at every turn in our attempts to leave the EU? The one who branded Brexiteers ‘liars’ who misled the British people?
