University’s a piece of cake for Malala...

She may be the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner and a trailblazer for women’s rights but it seems that Malala Yousafzai is a traditionalist at heart.

The 22-year-old threw herself into the infamous tradition for Oxford graduates – being covered in cake and confetti.

her family recreated the ritual of ‘trashing’ at home. It’s banned on Oxford’s streets by the university and risks a £300 fine. Miss Yousafzai, who studied philosophy, politics and economics, wrote on Twitter: ‘hard to express my joy and gratitude right now as I completed my degree.

‘I don’t know what’s ahead. For now, it will be Netflix, reading and sleep.’

Miss Yousafzai was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman in Pakistan in 2012 after she campaigned for girls to be educated in the country. She won the Nobel in 2014 at the age of 17.
