MISSING . . .

CAN student nurses be found for a reunion 40 years on?

‘We trained at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, starting in 1980,’ writes Carole Stubbs, 57, of Witney, Oxon.

‘We were a group of 60, aged about 18. As it’s 40 years ago, we’ve arranged a reunion for October. As the world has taken a frightening new shape, it seems even more important to find our 21 missing nursing friends and reminisce about our three years training together.

‘They are Carol Reeder, Petra Cresswell, Lynn Turnbull, Fiona Sale, Katie Pavely, Ann Vaughan, Caroline Cook, Jill Kirkman, Penny Townsend, Vivienne Jones, Caroline Hull, Jill Bletchley, Mandy Jones, Sally Quaife, Gerry Harrison, Judith Roberts, Charlotte Lumley, Sally Marsh, Debbie Watson, Sarah Penning and Sharon Bainbridge.

‘Those years were filled with study and hard physical work, and I made wonderful lifelong friends. Afterwards, we took different paths.

‘I never left Oxford, and worked as a clinical nurse specialist in anaesthetics and recovery. I also became joint operating theatre manager for two hospitals.

‘Sadly, my medical career was cut short by multiple sclerosis.’
