PET CAT THAT DOES DOGGY PADDLE!

- By Alan Shields

UNLIKE dogs who will leap in without a care, most cats prefer to avoid water if they possibly can.

But this moggie loves nothing more than to dive into the sea for a refreshing dip.

Lilly was taken in by the Macdonald family on the Isle of Lewis around four years ago.

And she has recently developed a fine set of sea legs and now happily goes out on the family’s kayak and paddle boards before diving into the sea and swimming to shore.

Footage shared on social media shows Lilly coming ashore on a beach near Stornoway before shaking herself dry.

Megan Macdonald said: ‘We live quite close to the beach so she follows us down there. One time she jumped on our paddle board and since then she goes out with my husband who kayaks.

‘The other day we were down on the beach and she jumped off the kayak and swam to shore.

‘My husband Donald said she had done it before. Since then she keeps jumping in again. I’m not sure if she likes it or what. She’s a crazy cat.’

Mrs Macdonald says her three children, Neeve, 11, Marley, nine, and five-year-old Samuel are all thoroughly delighted by their soggy moggie’s antics.

Mrs Macdonald added: ‘They think it’s hilarious but cats will do what they want to.

‘They were shouting “get her a towel” but she just shook it off and walked home.

‘It’s been really funny to watch.’
