FROM LANDSLIDES TO LANDMARKS, A DECADE OF UNFORGETTABLE ACTION...
2011 — LUKE DONALD (Castle Stuart)
A chaotic tournament which was shortened to 54 holes after some horrific weather had caused a landslip and left the course in an awful state. World No 1 Donald (right) played beautifully, though, to win by four shots.
2012 — JEEV MILKA SINGH (Castle
Stuart) The Indian carded a final round 67 to force a play-off with overnight leader Francesco Molinari. Singh would birdie the first extra hole to take the victory.
2013 — PHIL MICKELSON (Castle Stuart)
Mickelson pipped Branden Grace in a play-off after a sublime greenside pitch from a bare lie saw his ball zip back to a matter of inches for a tap-in birdie. Mickelson would go on to win the Claret Jug at Muirfield the following week.
2014 — JUSTIN ROSE (Royal Aberdeen)
Rose (left) shot a final round 65 to win by two strokes from Sweden’s Kristoffer Broberg as Royal Aberdeen proved a popular track. Scot Marc Warren held a share of the overnight lead but finished in third place.
2015 — RICKIE FOWLER (Gullane)
Glorious Gullane played host to another stellar cast-list as American hotshot Fowler stormed to a one-shot victory over Matt Kuchar after a stunning birdie three at the final hole. Warren again came close, finishing two shots back.
2016 — ALEX NOREN (Castle Stuart)
The powerful Swede (left) cemented his status as one of the best emerging players on Tour. A late developer due to injury woes earlier in his career, he has since won a further five times on the European Tour.
2017 — RAFA CABRERA-BELLO (Dundonald)
It was Vamos Rafa as the Spaniard stormed to victory after a course-record 64 set-up a play-off with Callum Shinkwin. Under sunlit Ayrshire skies, Shinkwin faltered as Cabrera-Bello pocketed the winner’s cheque for £898,491.
2018 — BRANDON STONE (Gullane)
Talented young South African Stone set the place alight as a final round of 60 broke the course record and saw him cruise to a four-shot victory. Indeed, Stone narrowly missed a birdie putt on the final hole for a 59.
2019 — BERND WIESBERGER
(Renaissance) Big-hitting Austrian (right) enjoyed a stellar season and held his nerve to pip France’s Benjamin Hebert at the third extra hole as the Renaissance Club held the event for the first time.
