KEY DATES AS SCOTLAND UNLOCKS
TODAY
■ Up to five households can now meet up outside, with a maximum of 15 people – with social distancing of 2m in place.
■ Three households can gather indoors, with up to eight people allowed. However, there must be space to remain socially distant. This can include overnight stays – for adults and children.
■ Couples who do not live together no longer have to abide by social distancing measures and can stay at each other’s homes.
■ Children under 11 no longer have to socially distance indoors, meaning youngsters can visit friends and family.
MONDAY
■ Shopping centres can reopen all non-essential stores with social distancing measures in place – customers will also have to wear masks which are now mandatory in Scotland.
■ Dentists can now perform routine check-ups and other procedures – excluding those creating ‘aerosols’, such as drilling and cleaning. This means those with braces or dentures can now have treatment.
■ Organised outdoor contact sports, play and physical activity can resume for children under 18.
■ Pregnant women can have their partner attend pre-natal scans and appointments, and will be allowed two birthing partners, as well as visitors in hospital wards.
■ Public transport can continue to scale up services with onemetre social distancing to be introduced alongside mandatory mask-wearing.
WEDNESDAY
■ Scotland’s tourism sector can fully reopen – including all hotels, B&Bs, campsites and rented accommodation.
■ Pubs and restaurants can open indoor seating areas – with a reduced 1m social distancing rule. However, they must inform customers of the shortened social distancing and introduce other measures including Perspex screens.
■ Museums, libraries, cinemas and galleries will open – but social distancing measures will be in place. Businesses are encouraged to operate a pre-booked ticket only system.
■ Hairdressers and barbers can begin to welcome clients with limited numbers and new hygiene measures in place.
■ Places of worship will open for congregational services and communal prayer – however, singing and chanting are ‘restricted’. Social distancing will be required and attendee numbers limited. New guidance will be drawn up by the government to support communities.
■ Restrictions on the number of people who can attend funerals and weddings will be lifted – however, further confirmation on numbers will be released in the coming days with new guidance to be issued.
WEDNESDAY 22 JULY
■ Beauty salons, spas and nail bars can reopen, as can tailors and other ‘personal retail services’.
■ Universities and colleges can begin a phased return with ‘blended learning’ and limited numbers allowed on campus.
■ Motorcycle instruction and testing can resume, as can tractor driving training.
FRIDAY 24 JULY
■ Care homes that have been Covid-free for 28 days can allow visiting and begin to reintroduce communal activity. Visitors will be limited to just one designated person inside, however multiple people can visit residents in outdoor areas.

■ Bingo halls
■ Driving lessons/tests
■ Theatres
■ Indoor and outdoor live music events
■ Indoor gyms and swimming pools
■ Non-professional outdoor contact sports
■ Non-essential office and call centres.
