‘He just snapped and hurled 30 bottles at me like grenades’

- By Chief Reporter

A RAGING Johnny Depp pelted his wife with nearly 30 bottles ‘like grenades’ from the bar of their luxury villa in Australia, the court heard.

The drug-addled actor flung them ‘one after the other’ as a terrified Amber Heard cowered from the shattering glass, it was alleged.

Then he stubbed out a cigarette on his own cheek, before embarking on an ecstasy and whisky-fuelled rampage that ended with him accidentally severing his own finger and using it to paint ‘I love u’ with his blood on a mirror.

Giving evidence, Depp had hazy memories of what his wife called the ‘threeday hostage situation’ at their rented house on the Gold Coast while he was filming the fifth Pirates Of The Caribbean movie in March 2015. But she told the court she had taken a bottle from selfconfessed alcoholic Depp after he ‘taunted’ her with it, and smashed it on the floor, prompting a furious response.

‘It snapped something in him, and he reached for the bottles on the counter and started using them like grenades, like bombs and throwing them one after the other after the other in my direction,’ she said. ‘I felt glass breaking behind me. I retreated more into the bar. And he didn’t stop.

‘He threw all the bottles that were within reach, all except for one, a celebratory magnum bottle of wine which I later noticed was the only one of 30 saved on the bar. Johnny needs help.’

Depp claims his fingertip was chopped off when Miss Heard threw a large vodka bottle which struck his hand. She said he injured himself smashing a telephone.

She told the court: ‘I only threw things to escape Johnny when he was beating me up.’ Eleanor Laws QC, for Depp, suggested: ‘It’s all just a total lie.’ Miss Heard replied: ‘No it’s not.’

Miss Laws accused Miss Heard of stubbing the cigarette out on Depp’s cheek, to which she said: ‘No, Johnny did it right in front of me. He often did things like that.’
