YOU HAVE YOUR SAY

-

EVERY week, Money Mail receives hundreds of your letters and emails about our stories. Here are some about the women who have won back thousands after being short-changed on their pensions:

HAVE YOU BEEN PENSHUNNED?

Money Mail, August 5 THE whole system needs investigating and rectifying — it is far too complex for most pensioners to understand. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) needs to look into this, as too many people are being deprived of what they are entitled to.

L. S., by email. I AM a stay-at-home mum who is not eligible for child benefit because my husband is a higherrate taxpayer. Women like me have to complete forms to confirm we can’t receive the benefit, or lose pension credits. Too few people realise this.

L. D., London. I BELIEVE I may be entitled to a refund, but I am struggling to get through to the DWP to make a claim. I have tried for several days now and I haven’t been able to speak to anyone on the phone.

L. N., by email. THANK you for highlighting this issue. I really wish women like me, who were born in the 1950s, were dealt a fairer hand. I never knew my pension age was changing, even though the Government claims letters were sent out.

L. W., by email. OUR pensions are frozen because we live in South Africa. It’s frustrating, we worked hard all our lives but will never get a pension increase while we live here. UK citizens in Canada, Australia and New Zealand all have the same problem.

H. M., Cape Town. I WONDER whether I am entitled to a refund. My state pension is £210 a month. My husband and I are 84 now and we both started working when we were 16. My husband laughs at my pension as, to him, it is a pittance.

J. E., by email. ÷ WE LOVE hearing from our loyal readers, so ask that during this challenging time you write to us by email where possible, as we will not pick up letters sent to our postal address as regularly as usual. You can write to: asktony@
