Read my lips . . . Creatures star’s guide to looking chic in a mask
THE star of the rebooted All Creatures Great And Small proved you can still show off your dazzling smile while staying protected yesterday.
Rachel Shenton opted for a stylish transparent face mask while out in London.
But for the 32-year-old actress, a see-through covering is more than a fashion statement.
The daughter of a deaf parent, she has long campaigned on behalf of hearing loss charities.
And in 2018 the former Hollyoaks star won an Oscar for her short film The Silent Child – which she wrote and starred in and was based on her own experiences of deafness.
Miss Shenton is playing Helen Alderson in the Channel 5 version of All Creatures, which started last week and has been praised by viewers and critics.
Her character was played by Carol Drinkwater in the BBC original which aired in the 1970s, starring Christopher Timothy in the lead role of vet James Herriot.
Miss Shenton, who paired her mask with a fitted khaki belted jumpsuit, was pictured arriving at the BBC studios in White City, London, to film Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch.
While there are no plans for the see-through masks to be available to the general public, the Government announced last week that NHS and care workers will be receiving them to help them communicate with those with conditions such as hearing loss, autism and dementia. A deal with US-based company ClearMask will see 250,000 masks delivered to NHS trusts and social care providers over the next few weeks.
All Creatures Great And Small continues on Channel 5 tomorrow at 9pm.
