Fears over right to know

SCOTLAND’S information watchdog Darren Fitzhenry has disclosed that the Scottish Government’s freedom of information performance has ‘dramatically’ fallen during the coronavirus pandemic.

And he warned that if ministers fail to address the issue immediately it would ‘send a dangerous message’ to both the public and government staff about the importance of transparency.

A Scottish Government spokesman said the pandemic had had an ‘enormous’ impact on resources.
