How free warning system works
1 Download the Protect Scotland app onto your phone - it is supported by Apple and Android. However, if your iPhone does not support the iOS13 update or higher you will be unable to use it.
2 Turn on your bluetooth and you are ready to go. The app is designed to work in the background so requires no user input.
3 If people you come into close contact with also have the app, this will be automatically shared between your devices via bluetooth.
4 If you test positive for Covid-19, contact tracers will give you a code to enter into the app which will then allow close contacts to be alerted. However, no personal details such as your name will be shared.
5 A warning is automatically issued when a match is found and users are then urged to get tested or self-isolate for 14 days.
