Time for herd immunity
The virus is not going away any time soon, so we have to live with it.
Shield the vulnerable by all means, but the time is coming for the herd approach, as Sweden has done.
The First Minister can’t keep shutting down the economy every couple of weeks, especially the hospitality sector, which has done the most in respect of protecting customers.

Nicola Sturgeon’s approval of how well Track and Trace is doing came into sharp focus after adviser Professor Devi Sridhar spoke about the new restrictions on channel 4 News.
ever honest, she said: ‘The idea is to go short and sharp and get back the testing and tracing in place.’
So what happened? Was it not coping with the numbers?
Professor Sridhar went on to say we need more enhanced testing – meaning improve the quality, amount or value of testing, or all three – to know who is isolating when told to do so, and incentives to support this.
i know it wasn’t an admission that contact tracing isn’t working properly but an acknowledgement, maybe, that all was not well with the current system.

ISN’T it obvious why the pubs have been closed and why we should not gather in groups in enclosed areas?
We all exhale vapour in our breath which can carry the virus. Breathe on a piece of cold glass or a mirror and then think about inhaling that vapour from other people’s breath – it doesn’t just fall to the floor and in warm environments it can linger for a long time. Now think again about meeting up with others indoors.
