Get country moving again

-

MY CITY being moved into Tier Three has been the final straw in my slow disillusionment with Boris Johnson, whom I once thought would go down in history as one of our country’s great leaders.

When the country went into full lockdown in March, I supported the Prime Minister’s decision. I understood the restrictions were put in place so that, during winter, the NHS would be prepared to deal with an expected increase in Covid patients. Where did the strategy go wrong?

The strict restrictions in Tier Three areas are not going to stop the virus; they will merely suppress it, only for i t to burst out again when the lockdown is eased.

It is soul-destroying not to be able to socialise with family and friends and to see businesses boarded up, never to re-open.

Do the Prime Minister and the members of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies ever visit town centres or the suburbs to see the devastation taking place?

Please credit the nation with enough common sense to take responsibility for their actions. We have accepted masks, s ocial distancing, the Rule of Six and washing our hands.

I implore Boris Johnson not to be remembered for bringing the country to its knees. The electorate that granted him such a large majority is losing respect for him, but it is not too late to change that.

He should man up and show us his buccaneering spirit. Stop hiding behind the scientists and get the country moving again while we still

have a chance to save the economy.
