Cheers for that, Kim... star’s boasts of luxurious trip are slammed as ‘tone deaf ’
WITH much of the world groaning under coronavirus, boasting about enjoying a carefree holiday on a paradise island was never going to be a wise move.
And sure enough, when Kim Kardashian West gushed online of her ‘humbling’ 40th birthday celebration – for which she flew all her loved ones to the private isle – the real world crashed in on the reality TV star.
After she revealed how they swam near whales, kayaked and watched a film on the beach, one Twitter user wrote: ‘Good for you. I lost four months of pay, still tied up with unemployment... Glad you had fun.’
Another said her post was ‘so tone deaf it’s painful’.
Perhaps aware of how the pictures from her holiday might be seen, Mrs Kardashian West wrote that the trip, reportedly in the Caribbean with family including sisters Khloe and Kourtney, had ‘humbly reminded [me] of how privileged my life is’.
She added: ‘There is not a single day that I take for granted, especially during these times when we are all reminded of the things that truly matter... Before Covid, I don’t think any of us truly appreciated what a simple luxury it was to be able to travel and be together with family and friends.’
She said guests had quarantined and taken health checks before flying off.
Veteran British musician Peter Frampton replied: ‘Are you that insensitive you don’t realise this is not what the majority of people... want to hear? People are going to food banks not private islands.’
A Twitter user said: ‘This is a whole new level of disgusting abuse of wealth and privilege.’
Clearly undeterred, Mrs Kardashian West last night shared an image of her and her sisters on a beach captioned: ‘Girls just wanna have sun.’
