Son saves family Xmas dinner... by setting up a company and hiring all his relatives!

-

AN account manager has set up a limited company in a bid to dodge the rule of six and invite his family for Christmas as ‘employees’.

Fenn Settle, 27, said he can bypass Covid restrictions by registering his financial consultancy, Fenn Settle Ltd, at his home in Shipley, near Leeds. Groups of more than six are allowed to meet indoors for work regardless of what tier they are in. Mr Settle believes this means he can invite relatives to ‘unpaid work events’ without breaking the law and risking a fine.

In a post on Facebook which has been shared nearly ,000 times, Mr Settle said: ‘Right then UK government, jokes on you [sic]. I’m not allowed to have my family around for Christmas. I am however allowed to have employees around. £6 later, Fenn Settle Ltd is now a legally registered company. Checkmate.’

Other social media users hailed his ‘genius’ and vowed to set up their own companies for Christmas. Mr Settle said he was inspired by the heartbreak of not being able to see his grandfather Peter Williams, 84, for the two months before he died in late April.
