Helena’s £80 acting lessons
HE’S a global pop star and she’s playing a royal on The Crown.
Now Gary Barlow and Helena Bonham Carter are returning to the classroom f or the BBC’s new online learning service.
In digital courses that will cost £80, Barlow will teach music composition while Miss Bonham Carter will share her acting expertise.
The Take That frontman will kick off the scheme, called BBC Maestro, with celebrity chef Marco Pierre White. Line of Duty creator Jed
Mercurio will also join the service to offer advice on script writing, while David Walliams will provide lessons on children’s writing.
Other names who will teach courses include author Malorie Blackman, businessman Peter Jones and chef Heston Blumenthal.
Each course has hours of content broken down into lessons ranging from 20 to 40 minutes, accompanied by course notes. BBC Maestro, which is not taxpayer-funded, rivals MasterClass which has online classes by figures such as Martin Scorsese and Dame Helen Mirren.
Barlow said he hoped his 30 years of experience in the music industry will help when teaching. ‘I’ve learnt a few things along the way – things that inspire the process,’ he said.
The BBC said the service was for ‘anyone who has a dream or a passion that they’ve always wanted to perfect’.
