THOSE Northern MPs unhappy at the economic damage being inflicted on their constituencies by ridiculous Covid restrictions have my f ull sympathy and support.

But some parts of the South are suffering, too.

Our l ocal BBC London news programme featured unfortunate victims of Covid chaos in Tottenham, in the shadow of the new £1 billion Spurs stadium. Cafes and small businesses are struggling, shops are boarded up.

Some of those working in the gig economy haven’t seen a penny since the pandemic started in March.
