Wind energy spin

-

ENERGY Minister Paul Wheelhouse said Scotland and the UK need to ‘at least’ double the amount of energy that comes from renewables to meet climate change targets.

Thus the cost of constraint payments – when energy firms are compensated for turning off turbines – will double and end up on electricity bills causing even more fuel poverty.

This year so far, constraint payments of £835million have been added to UK electricity bills, of which £773million was for Scotland. Germany has the highest electricity prices in Europe, provided courtesy of its 29,546 wind turbines

Mr Wheelhouse used the words ‘Scotland’s S legally binding climate targets’ ta but few countries have legally le binding Climate Change Acts. The T others only made promises which w are already being broken.
